3. open your activity monitor
4. search for cfprefsd
5. double-click on all of them if more than one and quit them
6. Open Console
7. go to the menu View>Clear Display
8. Install MagicalPad from the app store
9. Run MagicalPad
10. go back to the console and save the log file and send to us.

  1. If you have content that is on dropbox and not on ANY iPad/Mac (local content), make sure to pull it to at least one device before upgrading.
  2. Make sure you have the new version of MagicalPad on all devices.
  3. Do NOT remove content from any iPad/Mac.
  4. Delete MagicalPadAutoSync folder from Dropbox
  5. Turn on sync on ONE device at a time and wait for it to sync completely
  6. Wait for it to sync completely
  7. Turn on sync on the second device
  8. Wait for it to sync completely
  9. Now you have content sync’ed on all devices.

It is important to note that Sync is not a real time or dual time access and is not meant for accessing the same content at the same time. 

Sync uses lock file mechanism and Dropbox needs some time to process this.

P.s. If your device is not sync’ing with Dropbox try to revoke access to MagicalPad from Dropbox security page, then turn Dropbox back in and sync.

  1. If you have content that is on dropbox and not on ANY iPad/Mac (local content), make sure to pull it to one device before upgrading.
  2. Update the two devices to the new version of MagicalPad.
  3. Do not remove content from any iPad/Mac.
  4. Turn on sync on one iPad/Mac
  5. Wait for it to sync
  6. Turn on sync on the second iPad/Mac
  7. Wait for it to sync
  8. Now you have content sync’ed on both devices.

Your current MagicalPad version is not updated for IOS8. if you upgrade to ISO8 you might see blank pages. Your data is not lost, it is a rendering difference that we fixed for the next release to support IOS8. So don’t do anything, just stop using the app for now if it happens. Once we release the build next week – depending on how fast Apple can approve it, all your data will come back. it is a rendering issue with IOS8 that your current version doesn’t know how to handle.

  1. Make sure you have a local version on one of the devices for all your files
  2. Turn off sync on both devices
  3. Delete the magicalpadSync folder on dropbox
  4. Start sync process again
  5. Push and pull notebooks, this should clear it.

  1. Print selected item – select an outline, a mind map, or even a branch, then save as PDF, then print the PDF
  2. Print What you see in the page – zoom and pan to get the right content on the viewable area of the page, then export as PDF, then print the PDF
  3. Print the full page with all content, it will be small if you have lot of content – on the app settings there is a setting for exporting as PDF (or JPEG) the full page or viewable content on the content area.

You can’t do these options on simple print. However, it is on the roadmap to introduce print layout where you can see your print area boxes and move content to the page you want like you split your excel page view.

Why the switch from iCloud to Dropbox for Notebook export/import http://magicalpad.com/support/why-the-switch-from-icloud-to-dropbox-for-notebook-exportimport/ http://magicalpad.com/support/why-the-switch-from-icloud-to-dropbox-for-notebook-exportimport/#comments Thu, 22 May 2014 21:54:13 +0000 http://magicalpad.com/support/?p=109 We switched from iCloud to Dropbox for Notebook export/import due to the same reasons why we couldn’t implement iCloud seamless sync. iCLoud API was limited to meet our complex data model so was not able to allow a seamless sync of data. And Apple did not want to approve iCloud with manual export and import of data in the mac version even thought they approved it in IOS. drove us crazy.

So we had two choices to get it approved. Just remove iCloud altogether and not allow any data push, which was not logical, OR find an alternative for data push like you have and liked on the iPad. Dropbox was the alternative.

We spent billion cycles on automatic data sync both on icloud and dropbox. it just has lot of version conflict and lot of risks of data loss. The best solution later will be to build our own API.

Number icon – red badge http://magicalpad.com/support/number-icon-red-badge/ http://magicalpad.com/support/number-icon-red-badge/#comments Fri, 09 May 2014 20:04:01 +0000 http://magicalpad.com/support/?p=97 The Number icon or red badge on the icon represents the number of due or past due tasks within MagicalPad.

Go to App Settings to turn it off.

Currently there are tasks in the sample notebooks.

To get rid of the badge, you can either tick the tasks and make them done, or delete the tasks, or delete the sample notebooks altogether if you don’t need them.

This release brings advanced task management to you so you can use it later if you decide to add tasks. To make an item a task, simply add a checkebox to it. You need to add Start date, end date or remind date  for the badge to start tracking and for you to see tasks on the “today” section for example.

The iCloud copy process is intentional rather than silent. See iCloud sync article for how it works and why.

  • You have to select a notebook and copy it to the cloud then copy it from the cloud on another device. If you are doing it this way and still is not working, do the following:
    • Make sure to keep local copies on all devices
    • Turn off iCloud from the app settings on both devices
    • Go to your Mac or PC and access iCloud (on the mac it is accessible from settings).
    • Select App data, then MagicalPad
    • Delete all MagicalPad app data on iCloud,
    • Turn back on iCloud on both devices from the app settings
    • Push a notebook from one device and make sure to see it on the other device
    • Once you see it, you need to Copy from the cloud. this will overwrite the local copy so make sure you want to do that or create a new copy.
    • Then repeat the same process for the other notebooks.
