Issues with Sync http://magicalpad.com/support/knowledge-base/issues-with-sync/ http://magicalpad.com/support/knowledge-base/issues-with-sync/#comments Thu, 26 Feb 2015 04:29:39 +0000 http://magicalpad.com/support/?post_type=ht_kb&p=190 If you have issues syncing try the following steps:

  1. If you have content that is on dropbox and not on ANY iPad/Mac (local content), make sure to pull it to at least one device before upgrading.
  2. Make sure you have the new version of MagicalPad on all devices.
  3. Do NOT remove content from any iPad/Mac.
  4. Delete MagicalPadAutoSync folder from Dropbox
  5. Turn on sync on ONE device at a time and wait for it to sync completely
  6. Wait for it to sync completely
  7. Turn on sync on the second device
  8. Wait for it to sync completely
  9. Now you have content sync’ed on all devices.

It is important to note that Sync is not a real time or dual time access and is not meant for accessing the same content at the same time.

Sync uses lock file mechanism and Dropbox needs some time to process this.

P.s. If your device is not sync’ing with Dropbox try to revoke access to MagicalPad from Dropbox security page, then turn Dropbox back in and sync.

Exporting/printing options http://magicalpad.com/support/knowledge-base/exportingprinting-options/ http://magicalpad.com/support/knowledge-base/exportingprinting-options/#comments Thu, 26 Feb 2015 04:44:16 +0000 http://magicalpad.com/support/?post_type=ht_kb&p=191 You have 3 options for sharing to PDF and printing it.

  1. Print selected item – select an outline, a mind map, or even a branch, then save as PDF, then print the PDF
  2. Print What you see in the page – zoom and pan to get the right content on the viewable area of the page, then export as PDF, then print the PDF
  3. Print the full page with all content, it will be small if you have lot of content – on the app settings there is a setting for exporting as PDF (or JPEG) the full page or viewable content on the content area.

You can’t do these options on simple print. However, it is on the roadmap to introduce print layout where you can see your print area boxes and move content to the page you want like you split your excel page view.

How to find the iPhone/iPad App Crash Logs http://magicalpad.com/support/knowledge-base/how-to-find-the-iphoneipad-app-crash-logs/ http://magicalpad.com/support/knowledge-base/how-to-find-the-iphoneipad-app-crash-logs/#comments Thu, 26 Feb 2015 04:53:31 +0000 http://magicalpad.com/support/?post_type=ht_kb&p=194 While troubleshooting crashes, we may request a crash log to determine what is happening. Here are instructions to find a crash log for MagicalPad on Mac and Windows.
1. Sync with iTunes

Crash logs are transferred to iTunes whenever you sync your device. Plug in your device, and launch iTunes to complete the sync.

2. Retrieve the Crash Log

Mac Users:

  1. Open Finder (found in the Dock)
  2. Click on the ‘Go’ menu at the top of your screen, and select ‘Go to Folder’
  3. Type (or paste): ~/Library/Logs/CrashReporter/MobileDevice/
  4. Open the folder with the same ‘name’ as your device. (Note: your device name appears in iTunes on the left side, under ‘Devices’).
  5. You will see at least one item starting with ‘MagicalPad’. Copy any that you find to your Desktop.
  6. Attach the file(s) to your reply, or send them to support at magicalpad.com

Windows Vista/7 Users

  1. Open any Windows Explorer Window (My Computer, My Documents, etc.)
  2. Enter %appdata%, and press enter
  3. Navigate to Roaming > Apple computer > Logs > CrashReporter > Mobile Device > *Device Name*. (Note: your device name appears in iTunes on the left side, under ‘Devices’)
  4. You will see at least one item starting with ‘MagicalPad’. Copy any that you find to your Desktop.
  5. Attach the file(s) to your reply, or send them support at magicalpad.com

Windows XP Users

Number icon – red badge http://magicalpad.com/support/knowledge-base/number-icon-red-badge/ http://magicalpad.com/support/knowledge-base/number-icon-red-badge/#comments Thu, 26 Feb 2015 04:54:48 +0000 http://magicalpad.com/support/?post_type=ht_kb&p=196 The Number icon or red badge on the icon represents the number of due or past due tasks within MagicalPad.

Go to App Settings to turn it off.

Currently there are tasks in the sample notebooks.

To get rid of the badge, you can either tick the tasks and make them done, or delete the tasks, or delete the sample notebooks altogether if you don’t need them.

This release brings advanced task management to you so you can use it later if you decide to add tasks. To make an item a task, simply add a checkebox to it. You need to add Start date, end date or remind date  for the badge to start tracking and for you to see tasks on the “today” section for example.

Initial Sync http://magicalpad.com/support/knowledge-base/initial-sync/ http://magicalpad.com/support/knowledge-base/initial-sync/#comments Sun, 08 Mar 2015 20:51:52 +0000 http://magicalpad.com/support/?post_type=ht_kb&p=274 To enable sync, go to app settings and turn on Sync. it is using Dropbox instead of iCloud.

These will help the initial sync go smoothly:

  1. Enable sync one device by one device, meaning wait for device 1 to finish sync before enabling device 2.
  2. Wait for both initial syncs to finish before editing or adding content.
  3. Avoid opening the same page on both devices at the same time
